Tackling the climate emergency: carbon, climate, ecological and energy systems

This talk will focus on understanding the systems that underpin the climate emergency in order to help us understand the solutions. We will explore how humans have influenced the carbon cycle and what impact this is having on climate and ecological systems. We will then explore the role of ecological systems and our energy systems in how we can tackle the climate emergency and build a more sustainable future. 

Professor Zoe Robinson is Professor of Sustainability in Higher Education at Keele University. She has a BSc in Geography and Geology, and a PhD in Glacial Groundwater Systems, and is now a Professor in Sustainability at Keele, having started at Keele in 2004 as a Lecturer in Physical Geography, following a period of time working in Environmental Consultancy as a Geologist/Hydrogeologist. Rather than aligning with a particular discipline Zoe aligns herself with the emerging field of ‘Sustainability Science’, which centres around finding solutions to problems of ‘unsustainability’ rather than around specific disciplines.  Zoe’s background in the sustainability field is broad covering research, education and outreach activities.
